COVID-19: Buhari Won’t Address Nation Today – Spokesman
There will be no presidential broadcast on COVID-19 updates today, says Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari.
Adesina who disclosed this on Monday afternoon via his Twitter handle, @FemAdesina, said:”None was planned. Rather, the Presidential Task Force will during its usual media briefings bring the nation up to speed on the next steps.”
On Sunday, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chairman, Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha said Nigerians should expect new processes today, two weeks after a phased easing of lockdown measures in Abuja, Lagos and Ogun States began.
While briefing the press at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, after he had briefed President Muhammadu Buhari on the activities of the task force, the SGF said the PTF supplied Buhari with all the materials required to look at the issues.
“This is not a short distance race, is a marathon and we have to keep everything in perspective. “So he expressed his satisfaction with the PTF…Our numbers are going up, but you have to consider that our mortality too is not as drastic as it’s being expected,” Mustapha had noted.
Meanwhile, the National Coordinator, Presidential Task Force on Covid-19, Aliyu Sani was quoted to have told the State House Correspondents that the President would address the nation today on the second phase of the gradual easing of the lockdown.
