Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has approved the appointment of Dr. Usman Abba Arabi, as Chairman, Gombe State Electricity Regulatory Commission (GOSERC).
Dr. Arabi was appointed alongside Five (5) Commissioners of the newly established Gombe State Electricity Commission, according to a statement on Saturday by the Director-General, Press Affairs of the Gombe State Government House, Ismaila Uba Misilli.
According to him, the appointments, which took effect from 21st January 2026, were earlier forwarded to the Gombe State House of Assembly, and have since been confirmed in line with the enabling law establishing the Commission.
Conveying the Governor’s approval, the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, said the constitution of the leadership team for GOSERC is in furtherance of Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s commitment to building a robust, transparent and investor-friendly electricity market in Gombe State, in line with the opportunities created by the ongoing decentralization of Nigeria’s power sector.
The other appointees are: Engr. Sule Usman – Commissioner, Technical Regulation, Abubakar Sa’ad – Commissioner, Economic Regulation, Engr. Ahmed Ibrahim Pindiga – Commissioner, Rural Electrification, Lydia Ali, FCA – Commissioner, Finance and Administration, Talatu Abubakar – Commissioner, Legal and Licensing.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed confidence that, with the calibre of professionals nominated to lead the Commission, GOSERC would provide the regulatory backbone required to improve service delivery, enforce technical and economic standards, protect consumers and stimulate investments in both urban and rural power infrastructure across the state.
The Governor also believes that the Commission would serve as a critical institution in driving the state’s power sector reforms, expanding access to electricity, particularly in underserved communities, and supporting the industrialization and economic development agenda of Gombe State.
