Easter: FG Declares Friday, Monday Public Holidays

The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, public holidays for the celebration of Easter.

Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced this on behalf of the Federal Government on Wednesday.

Tunji-Ojo, in a statement by the
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani congratulatied to Christian faithful across Nigeria and in the diaspora on the occasion of Easter.

He called on Nigerians to embrace the core virtues symbolized by Easter, including selflessness, forgiveness, forbearance, and love, as demonstrated in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.

He further urged citizens to uphold national values such as tolerance and unity, emphasizing their importance in strengthening the country’s social fabric.

The Minister stated that ongoing policy decisions of government are aimed at fostering economic growth, national renewal, and shared prosperity for all Nigerians.

He wished all the Christians a peaceful and joyous Easter celebration.
