FG Addressing Security Breach In Plateau – NSA

The National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has said the Federal Government is currently addressing the recent security breach in some communities in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Ribadu made the disclosure today 6 April 2025, at Headquarters Operation SAFE HAVEN during an operational visit to the State.

It will be recalled that troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) successfully thwarted militia attacks on the communities of Tamiso, Daffo, Manguna, Taddai, and Hurti in Bokkos Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State on April 2, 2025, as part of the ongoing Operation LAFIYAN JAMA’A.

Media and Information Officer of Operation Safe Haven, Major Samson Zhakom, who made the disclosure in a statement, said troops made contact with the attackers, overpowered them, and forced them to abandon one AK-47 rifle and six motorcycles. An exploitation of the area revealed traces of blood along the criminals’ withdrawal route.

Through further exploitation of the attacked locations in Bokkos, troops on 3 April 2025, conducted clearance operations at Hurti community having observed the activities of militias within the mountainous area. Troops engaged the criminals with high volume of fire, forcing them to withdraw in disarray.

Zhakom had also disclosed that on 3 April 2025, troops of Sector 2 OPSH in conjunction with local vigilantes acting on credible intelligence on the activities of bandits along Kampani Zurak road in Wase LGA of Plateau State, conducted offensive operations to clear the criminals.

During the engagement, troops neutralised one bandit and recovered 1 AK-47 rifle magazine, 1 motorcycle amongst other items, and are in pursuit of the other fleeing bandits.

The NSA disclosed that he was in Plateau following the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to restore normalcy to communities recently attacked by miltias in the State, and commended security agencies for their timely response in curtailing the situation.

While charging Plateau residents to prioritise peace, and learn to live together as one, the NSA appealed to the media to ensure due diligence and transparency while reporting sensitive incidents, especially as it concerns security.

He assured the people that the Federal Government will ensure all arrested suspects in connection to the recent attacks are brought to justice, and affirmed that the improvement in the security setup will be sustained to deliver more operational successes in the country.

The National Security Adviser was earlier briefed by the General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN, Major General Folusho Oyinlola on the current security situation of the Joint Operations Area.
