The Minister of Defence, Dr. Badaru Abubakar, has affirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to enhancing the Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF) capabilities to address emerging security threats.
Dr. Badaru gave the assurances on Wednesday, during the 2024 NAF Training, Operations, and Safety Seminar in Abuja.
The minister, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Ibrahim Kana, commended the NAF’s proactive efforts under Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar in restoring stability to the northeast and tackling insurgency and terrorism.
The Chief of Air Staff described the current period as a “Golden Era” for the NAF, marked by the acquisition of advanced platforms, including jets and helicopters, and upcoming deliveries of cutting-edge assets.
He called on seminar participants to leverage the knowledge shared to improve operations, training, and safety.
Key highlights included the winging of 28 new pilots and UAV operators trained locally and abroad, safety-focused MOUs with key organizations, and accreditation of the Air Traffic Services Training Centre as an Approved Training Organisation (ATO) by the NCAA.
The seminar, themed “Agile and Resilient Air Power for National Security,” reinforces the NAF’s commitment to operational excellence and readiness to address evolving security challenges.
