FG Repatriates 190 Nigerians From UAE

The Federal Government has repatriated One Hundred and Ninety (190) Nigerians from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

This was contained in a statement signed on Tuesday by the Director, North Central Zone of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Bashir Garga.

He said, the returnees were received at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja at 5.45am by a combined team of government officials led by NEMA.

According to him, the returnees were profiled and documented by the relevant agencies and sensitized to behave with decorum and responsibility on their return to Nigeria.

Garba said, the federal government urged all Nigerians, wherever they may be, to act as exemplary ambassadors of their country, upholding the fundamental values of patriotism, rule of law, decency, and integrity.

Just yesterday, the federal government announced that it has reached an agreement with the UAE to lift the travel restrictions imposed on Nigerians, effective from July 15, 2024.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this addressing State House Correspondents, shortly after the Federal Executive Council (FEC), meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He said, “today, an agreement has been reached with the UAE effective from July 15, Nigerian passport holders intending to travel to UAE can do so”.

The lifting of the ban is expected to restore ease of travel, and enhance bilateral relations, and operation between the two countries.
