The Federal Government has vowed to rescue the female students abducted from Government Girls Secondary School, Maga, in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made the vow on behalf of the Federal Government on Monday in Abuja.

Recall that the Kebbi State Police Command had earlier deployed a combined team of Police tactical units, military personnel and vigilantes, for the search and rescue of the abducted students.

The Command narrated in a statement that a gang of armed bandits with sophisticated weapons, and shooting sporadically, had in the early hours of Monday, 17th November 2025, stormed the School, and were engaged in a gun duel by the police tactical units deployed in the school.

Unfortunately, it said the suspected bandits had already scaled through the fence of the school and abducted twenty-five students from their hostel to an unknown destination.

Meanwhile, the Information Minister said the federal government is committed to bringing the girls home safely.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has reiterated that protecting every Nigerian, especially school children, remains a solemn responsibility of the State.

“The government condemns the reprehensible attack on innocent students and the killing of school officials who were carrying out their noble duty.

“Our security and intelligence agencies have been issued clear directives to locate, rescue, and safely return the students, and to ensure that the perpetrators face justice,” he said.

Idris said “the Federal Government will not relent until this objective is achieved. We assure Nigerians that strengthening internal security remains a top priority.

“The Federal Government is recalibrating the nation’s military, policing, and intelligence capabilities to more effectively prevent these attacks and respond with greater speed and precision whenever threats arise.

“Nigeria is also reinforcing cooperation with regional partners through ECOWAS, the African Union, and the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) to secure our borders and disrupt terrorist and criminal networks. We urge the public to remain calm and confident,” he said.
