Magashi explained that the essence of creating the award of excellence was to celebrate the people working in at the grassroots, to appreciate them and to encourage them to continue.

“What we are doing is to celebrate the people that are hardly celebrated in Nigeria, the Frontline people working in the Primary Health Centers (PHC).

“Any celebration you see from Kano, Abuja, Bauchi, everywhere, what you see is the big people being celebrated; big politicians, big political actors and the policy makers and the people on the frontline are usually forgotten”, he said.

He hinted that new innovations would be included in the 2025 awards adding that this year’s edition would be expanded to include media practitioners and the cash price would be increased. Also, the foundation would pay a visit to the facilities where the awardees work. This, he noted , would serve as motivation to others.

Muhammad Yahaya Karshi, a Community Health Extension Worker at Karshi Primary Healthcare Center won the Most committed volunteer staff. Zainab Ladan, a volunteer in the antenatal and immunisation unit, Gwagwalada Township Clinic was also awarded the Most committed volunteer staff.
