Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has sworn in the newly elected 21 Local Government Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, and Councillors.
This follows the local government elections held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, where the All Progressives Congress (APC) swept all the 21 council seats in the State.
The Chairman of Kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission (KESIEC), Aliyu Mohammed Mera, confirmed the development at a press briefing in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday.
He said: “The APC won all the chairmanship and councillorship seats based on the results collated from the 21 local government areas where the elections were conducted”.
Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony on Monday at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi, the governor urged the new officials to be transparent, inclusive, and to prioritize the welfare of the people at the grassroots level.
He praised the peaceful conduct of the elections and presented the newly sworn-in chairmen with brand new Hilux vehicles to aid their official duties.
The oath of office was administered by the Chief Judge of Kebbi State, Justice Umar Abubakar.
