A member of the Anambra House of Assembly, Justice Azuka, has been abducted by gunmen while travelling home for Christmas celebration.
The police spokesperson in Anambra State, Tochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed the development in a statement on Wednesday, said the gunmen abducted the lawmaker at about 9:20 p.m. on Tuesday along Ugwunapampa Road in Onitsha North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Sources said Mr. Azuka, who represents Onitsha North Constituency in the state assembly, was attacked by the hoodlums while returning home for the festive season.
Ikenga said the command had “activated operational plans for the possible rescue and arrest of the kidnappers of the lawmaker.”
