The state Command’s spokesperson, SP Rahman Nansel, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.

Narrating the incidents that led to achieving the major breakthrough, Nansel said that a complaint was lodged at the Mararaba A Division on Monday, 17th March 2025 by one Alhaji Sani Bello, a resident of Tudun Wada, Mararaba, who reported that his eight-year-old son, Abdulrahman Sani, was abducted by unknown individuals in the Tudun Wada area of Mararaba, two days before, at about 8 pm.

The abductors later contacted him via phone, demanding a ransom of ₦700,000 for his son’s release.

Upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police, Shetima Mohammed, swiftly directed a team of police detectives to launch an immediate investigation.

Acting on credible intelligence, officers trailed the suspects and successfully arrested 2 individuals in Keffi, Nasarawa State: Surajo Yusuf, 22, a native of Katsina State and resident of Angwan Tanko, Keffi, and Peter Samuel, 23, of Nasarawa Town.

During interrogation, Surajo Yusuf confessed to carrying out the abduction alone and later enlisting the assistance of his accomplice (Peter Samuel ) to keep the child, under the false pretense that the boy was his nephew.

The victim was rescued unharmed along Nasarawa Road, Keffi, Nasarawa State, and has since been reunited with his family.

A search of the suspects’ residence led to the recovery of various incriminating items, including: Nigeria Correctional Service and Nigeria Immigration Service uniforms and accoutrements, a knife, a Nigeria Correctional Service identification card, a national identity card, and ATM cards bearing different names.

Commending the officers for their professionalism and swift action, the Commissioner of Police reassured the public of the Nigeria Police Force’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens. He urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police.

“The suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation”, the police spokesman stated.
