How Ogun Police Rescued Kidnapped Victims, Recovered N7.9m Ransome, Weapons

Police operatives in Ogun State have successfully neutralised two members of a kidnap gang and rescued three Indian nationals.

The State Command’s public relations officer, SP Omolola Odutola, disclosed this on Tuesday in a statement on X.

TheFact Daily reports that the Divisional Police Officer of Mowe Divisional Headquarters received a distress call from the manager of Breeze Company Nig limited located at Ibadan-Lagos expressway, saying that on 3rd May, his principals numbering about 16, while returning to their residence at Kajola junction, were met by a gang of kidnappers who opened fire on the two Toyota buses that were conveying them.

In response, the police Mobile Escort attached to one of the buses exchanged fire with the hoodlums. However the three Indian nationals who were in the other bus and without police escort were kidnapped to an unknown destination.

Odutola said that the Anti-kidnapping section of the Command in concert with Police formations in the axis with other local security agents, swung into action by combing the area.

The policemen encountered the kidnappers in the forest along Benin-Sagamu papalanto and engaged them in a fierce gun battle around 4:30pm today, and succeeded in rescuing the victims unhurt.

In the course of the encounter, two of the 6 kidnappers were demobilised, 2 AK 47 riffles, 1 single barrel locally made gun, 2 swords,1 cell phone, criminal charms and 65 rounds of ammunition were recovered.

Also recovered was the sum of N7,900,000 (Seven Million, Nine Hundred Thousand Naira) and One Thousand, Five Hundred Rupees (Indian currency) suspected to be the likely ransome loot of the two demobilised kidnappers.

According to Odutola, the two demobilised suspects have been deposited at the mortuary, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining 4 fleeing members of the kidnap gang.
