The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has appointed Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Adebola Ayinde Hamzat,to head the Zone 16 Command of the Force whose headquarters is in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
The Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, SP Emonena Gunn, said in a statement on Tuesday that the new appointment by the IGP followed the retirement of the erstwhile AIG Paul Alifa Omata.
AIG Adebola Hamzat, an indigene of Ifelodun L.G.A of Kwara State, was commissioned into the Nigeria Police Force as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police on 18th May 1992.
He is a graduate of Sociology from the University of Ilorin and holds a Masters in Conflict Management & Peace Studies from the University of Jos and a PhD in Peace and Development Studies from Unilorin.
According to the statement, Hamzat has served in different capacities in the police force and globally.
