The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun has extended his heartfelt condolences to Governor Bassey Eno of Akwa Ibom state on the passing of his wife, Patience Bassey.
The Police chief’s condolences were contained in a statement issued on Friday by the Force spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi.
TheFact Daily reports that the death of the Akwa Ibom First Lady was announced by the Commissioner for Information in the state, Ini Ememobong, in a statement titled “Unexpected Sunset” in the early hours of Friday.
Ememobong said the first lady passed away at a hospital on Thursday in the presence of family members after a brief illness.
Reacting to the news, IGP Egbetokun said, “her gracious legacy, compassion, and dedication have left an indelible mark on the lives of many in Nigeria, especially in Akwa-Ibom State. This profound loss is deeply felt by her family, the entire Nigerian state particularly the people of Akwa-Ibom state.
“In this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with Governor Umo and his family. May Almighty God grant them solace and strength to bear this irreparable loss”.
The IGP sympathized with Governor Umo and prayed for the peaceful repose of Mrs. Eno’s soul.
“May her memory be a blessing to all who knew her, and may her soul rest in perfect peace”, the IGP said.
