The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has ordered a major redeployment of senior officers across the Nigeria Police Force to strengthen operations, leadership, and service delivery nationwide.
Force spokesman, Anthony Placid, stated on Tuesday that the postings, aimed at reinforcing the Force’s command structure, cut across key departments, formations, and state commands. Several Assistant Inspectors-General were reassigned to strategic roles, including Research and Planning, Operations, Training, Armament, Community Policing, and various Zonal Commands.
TheFact Daily reports that the latest shake-up follows the recent decoration of newly promoted senior officers, part of a broader effort to reposition the Force after the exit of some top officials and inject fresh leadership into critical roles. The exercise underscores the IGP’s push to align promotions with strategic deployments to enhance efficiency and accountability.
Notably, AIG Dahiru Mohammed was posted to Zone 15 Maiduguri, AIG Dankombo Morris to Zone 4 Makurdi, AIG Bello Shehu to Zone 14 Katsina, and AIG Olohundare Jimoh to Zone 2 Lagos, among others, while others were deployed to specialised departments at Force Headquarters, Abuja.
At the Commissioner of Police level, key state commands affected include Jigawa, Oyo, Ogun, Ekiti, Adamawa, Taraba, Zamfara, Katsina, Sokoto, Lagos, and the Federal Capital Territory, alongside several departmental and operational postings.
The reshuffle also covers critical units such as INTERPOL, FCID Annexes, Special Protection Unit, SWAT, Police Academy, and community policing formations, reflecting a broad-based repositioning across investigative, administrative, and operational arms, with the IGP urging officers to uphold professionalism, discipline, and dedication in their new assignments.
