IGP Restates Commitment To Growth Of Women In Law Enforcement

The Inspector General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, has restated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to promoting inclusivity and providing a conducive environment for the professional growth of women in law enforcement.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi on Tuesday, February 13, 2024.

IGP, Egbetokun reiterated the critical importance of gender sensitivity within the Police Force, noting the pivotal role women play in ensuring effective policing and community engagement.

He said, the Force is poised to host the International Association of Women’s Police Conference (African Chapter) which aims to bring together women in law enforcement globally to share insights, best practices, and strategies for advancing women’s roles in policing and enhancing their contributions to national security.

The Conference which is scheduled to hold from 2nd to 5th July 2024 at the International Conference Centre in Abuja, will evolve collaborative efforts as part of contributing to the global discourse on enhancing gender equity and promoting the active participation of women in policing.

“As the host nation, the NPF looks forward to welcoming esteemed representatives from various countries to engage in fruitful discussions that will undoubtedly catalyze positive changes in the landscape of women’s involvement in law enforcement”, the statement said.
