Indigent Sokoto Students Get Free UTME Registration

The Executive Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmad Aliyu, has approved free registration for indigent students sitting for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

This is according to a statement issued by the state Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Isa Maishanu on Friday.

Maishanu noted that the Governor’s gesture was designed to help indigent students secure admission into Nigerian universities and other tertiary institutions.

He disclosed that the distribution of JAMB/UTME and Direct Entry (DE) PINs will take place at the 23 Local Government Secretariats across the state.

“Interested candidates must visit their respective secretariats to collect and complete the necessary data forms. The state Ministry for Higher Education will oversee the process to ensure a smooth exercise,” he added.

The statement further disclosed that interested parties must generate a Profile Code by texting “NIN (space) followed by the eleven-digit National Identification Number (NIN) to 55019.

“Only candidates who meet the academic criteria—a minimum of five credits, including Mathematics and English—will be eligible for this opportunity.

“The ministry encourages all beneficiaries to study diligently and make the most of this generous support”, the statement concluded.
