Kaduna Bombing: Why We Are Yet To Disclose Outcome Of Investigations – DHQ
By Anne Osemekeh Abuja
The Defence Headquarters says though it has concluded investigations into the Tudun Biri, Kaduna bombing, it is constrained to divulge the outcome.
Defence Media Operations Chief, Maj Gen Edward Buba, disclosed this on Thursday, at a press briefing held at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.
TheFact Daily recalls that no fewer than 85 residents of Tudun Biri were killed on Sunday, 3 December 2023, after the Nigerian Army erroneously dropped a bomb on the community during a Maulud celebration, an incident that sparked outrage and condemnation across the country and internationally.
According to Buba, the affected personnel, who are two in number, are to be court martialed for acts of omission and commission with respect to the incident.
He said that because the matter is still before a court martial, any information disclosed “will be adjudged as prejudicial”.
He however, affirmed that the incident was a mistake, one that should never have happened, and the victims of the strike were mistaken for terrorists.
Maj. Gen. Buba, on behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa, officers and personnel of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN), offered condolences to families and loved ones killed in the unfortunate incident, and hoped “that there will be no more repeat of strikes on non-combatants in our ongoing operations across the country”, adding that, “the military will take extra
precaution in future to ensure that non-combatants are safe”.
