A Federal High Court sitting in Kano has overruled the new Kano Emirate Council Law enforced to dethrone Ado Bayero and four other Emirs in the state.
In his ruling on Thursday, Justice Abdullahi Muhammad Liman quashed the new (repealed) emirate law 2024.
He faulted the steps taken by the state governor, Abba Yusuf to repel the emirate council law, therefore, asked the parties to maintain status quo.
Recall, that the new law was used by the state governor to dethrone the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, and also to reverse the creation of four emirates.
It was also used by the governor to reappoint Muhammadu Sanusi II, who was dethroned by the former governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as the the 16th Emir of Kano.
