Kano Governor Earmarks N5bn For Purchase Of Fertiliser For Farmers

The Executive Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf has approved the purchase of fertiliser worth N5.07 billion to support smallholder farmers in the state.
Spokesperson to the governor, Sanusi Tofa disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, June 25, 2024.
Tofa informed that the approval was given during the 15th State Executive Council (SEC) meeting.
He explained that that the move aim to facilitate food sufficiency through massive agricultural transformation:
“The fertiliser will be distributed across the 44 Local Government Areas to support farmers, especially those in rural areas, to increase crop yields during the 2024 rainy season’’, he said.
He also explained that the fertiliser would be sold to farmers at a subsidised price, demonstrating the governor’s commitment to providing access to quality and affordable agricultural inputs.
Recall that the governor previously purchased grains worth billions of naira, distributed to vulnerable people in the state.
