Kano Police Arrest Three Suspects For Culpable Homicide

Operatives of the Kano state Police Command have arrested three suspects in connection with the murder of one Dahiru Musa, aged 32.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Kiyawa, disclosed in a statement on Wednesday that the victim’s brother had, on 29th September, 2024 reported to the police that his brother had gone missing, and that he suspected a close associate of his brother’s, one Aliyu Adamu, who happened to be Dahiru’s last contact before he went missing.

On receipt of the report, a team of detectives swung into action and arrested the said Aliyu Adamu on 30th September. During the course of the investigation, the suspect confessed to having conspired with his friend, one Mubarak Abdulsalam, who, lured the victim to his house at Gaida Yan-Kusa Quarters under the pretext of negotiating a land business.

Mubarak then offered Dahiru food laced with poison, and seeing their victim was unconscious, Mubarak and Aliyu used knives and stabbed him to death. They later packed the remains in a sack and had it thrown into an uncompleted building near his house. Aliyu further confessed that their intention was to convert the deceased’s landed property to his own since he was in possession of the land documents.

Further Investigation led to the arrest of the accomplice, Mubarak Abdulsalam, who confessed that upon getting the information that Aliyu had been arrested, he conspired with one Sadiq Sunusi, to set the deceased’s body on fire in order to erase any evidence.

Kiyawa stated that the body was evacuated to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital Kano for autopsy, adding that all three suspects are currently at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Homicide Section undergoing investigation, after which they will be charged to court for prosecution.

Meanwhile the Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Salman Garba, has urged residents in the state to exercise caution and to be accompanied with appropriate individuals when meeting people for businesses and other social engagements, especially when invited to isolated places.
