Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force attached to the Central Market Police Division in Birnin-Kebbi, the Kebbi state capital, have arrested a suspect in connection tion with the murder of one Auwal Umaru.
CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the Command’s public relations officer disclosed this on Monday.
He explained that the police division had on Monday, 21st July, 2025 at about 8 am, received information that the victim was seen lying in a pool of his own blood behind the central market.
Upon receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer mobilized a team of policemen and vigilante to the scene and swiftly evacuated the victim to Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital, Birnin Kebbi, where a medical practitioner certified the victim dead.
Following a credible lead, one Bello Amakwa was arrested in connection with the case. In the course of preliminary investigation, the suspect confessed to have used a knife and stabbed the deceased on his neck, as a result of a mere argument earlier that day. Operatives were able to recover the weapon used to commit the crime.
Consequently, the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Bello Sani, appealed to the youths to always seek redress from the appropriate authorities, when aggrieved, and desist from self help.
He however directed the DPO to immediately transfer the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough investigation and prosecution.
