Kebbi Police Clarifies Cause Of Bagudo Hospital Explosion

The Kebbi State Police Command has clarified the cause of the explosion at the General Hospital, Bagudo.

The state Police Commsnd’s spokesman, SP Bashir Usman, in a statement on Tuesday, debunked what he referred to as unverified reports suggesting a bomb or helicopter involvement.

TheFact Daily reports that an explosion had hit the hospital in the early hours of Tuesday, which triggered panic among residents. SP Usman who earlier confirmed the incident, said security agencies swiftly secured the area to prevent further threats, adding that no lives were lost in the blast.

Explaining the cause of the explosion, Usman said “investigations and expert assessments have confirmed that the incident was caused by an inferno which overheated air-conditioning and refrigerator gas cylinders”, adding that assessments conducted by EOD-CBRN experts, alongside the Commissioner of Police Tactical Team, confirmed that no explosives or aerial activity were involved.

“No loss of life or injuries occurred, as verified by the on-site expert teams”, he stated. ‎ ‎

He urged the public and the media to rely solely on official information, as “the situation remains fully under control, and the Command remains committed to public safety and transparency”. ‎ ‎ ‎
