The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested and detained an inspector after he shot and killed an unarmed individual in the state.
The state Command’s public relations officer, SP Nafiu Abubakar, made this known in a statement on Thursday.
TheFact Daily reports that the Inspector, one Nura Ahmad, was attached to CTU Base 18 Zamfara State. While on stop-and-search duty along Zamare/Yauri road, on Thursday, 13th June, at about 1am, he was confronted
by one Ahmad Ibrahim. The confrontation led to the inspector shooting Ahmed in the chest. He was immediately rushed to General Hospital Yauri, for treatment, where a medical Doctor confirmed him dead.
“In view of the ugly incident, Inspector Nura Ahmad has been arrested and detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Birnin Kebbi, for discreet investigation with a view to unravel the circumstances surrounding the confrontation and the unprofessional conduct of the police inspector”, Abubakar said
The Command also sent condolences to the immediate family, friends and well wishers of the deceased, and assured that “justice will be done in the investigation of this ugly incident and its outcome will be made available in due course”.
