Lagos Taskforce Confiscates 82 ‘Okadas’

The Lagos State Taskforce has impounded 82 commercial motorcycles popularly called okada in restricted areas of the state.

This is according to a post on the official X handle of the Lagos State Government on Monday, October 7, 2024.

The post disclosed that the operation was carried out in Berger, Mile 2 Oke, and Orile areas of the state.

Speaking on the development, Chairman of the Lagos State Taskforce, CSP Adetayo Akerele reiterated the Agency’s unwavering stance on the illegal operations, stressing that both riders and passengers found violating the ban will be prosecuted.

“Passengers on okada are as guilty as the riders. If caught, they will face the full weight of the law alongside the riders”, he warned.

Akerele added that the Lagos State Taskforce remains committed to enforcing the law and ensuring that Lagos roads remain safe and motorable.

He further encouraged the residents to adhere to the regulations, as these efforts were in place to protect the lives and property of all Lagosians.

“All 82 impounded motorcycles will be forfeited to the State Government through the court”, he stated.
