Lawmaker Condemns Renewed Attacks On Okokolo Community In Benue
A Member representing Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency in the 10th House of Representatives, Hon. Ojotu Ojema, has condemned the renewed herdsmen attacks on Okokolo Community in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State.
Hon. Ojema who is the Chairman, House Standing Committee on National Inland Waterways, said, suspected herdsmen in the late hours of Thursday, January 18, 2024, attacked the Okokolo Community, resulting in the death of four and one wounded military personnel.
In a statement by his Media Aide, Olikita Ekani, Hon. Ojema expressed his total sadness and condemnation over the renewed onslaught on the innocent people of Agatu LGA, describing it as another reminder of the calamities that befell the people in the past.
He, therefore, called on the Federal Government to urgently nip the resurgent attacks in the bud in order to prevent further escalation to other communities in Agatu and neighbouring Apa LGA.
The Federal Lawmaker paid tribute to the families of all the military personnel who lost their lives, saying they were martyred for trying to defend their fatherland.
Ojema assures the people of Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency that he is working relentlessly in collaboration with all traditional rulers, religious, political Leaders, and relevant security agencies to bring lasting solutions to the lingering insecurity challenges in the area.
He calls on the people to be security conscious and report any suspected movement to the security agencies.
