MultiChoice Terminates Eva, Eva+ Channels On DSTV, GOTV Tomorrow

MultiChoice will be terminating the Eva channel from AMC Networks International by March. Subscribers have been informed that EVA and EVA+ will both be disconnected from the DStv and GOtv pay-TV service across Africa on Monday, 22 March as MultiChoice no longer has airing rights.

Sbu Mpungose disclosed during a media enquiry: “From time to time, MultiChoice together with 3rd party channel owners reviews the channels available on the DStv platform which may result in the addition or removal of channels.”

“For this reason, EVA and EVA+ will no longer be available on the DStv platform from 22 March 2021. Viewers will, however, be able to continue to view our recently introduced channels such as TLnovelas(DStv 133) and the HONEY channel (DStv 173).”

EVA owned by AMC International, was launched in March 2015. Its sister channel, EVA+ was launched in 2016 on DStv and GOtv. Similarly to Eva, Eva+ offered Latin American telenovelas fully dubbed in English and Portuguese languages, and was the first channel in AMC Networks International – UK’s regional portfolio to be available on MultiChoice’s DTT platform. For the past few months, 90% of the telenovelas showing on EVA were repeats. The Bold and The Beautiful was the only stable program on EVA.

MultiChoice also launched HONEY, a new channel which will focus on authentic African storytelling. The channel has partnered with producers from all corners of the continent to create hundreds of fresh hours of exciting African shows, ensuring that HONEY is indeed the place where all Africans feel at home.

The channel would be broadcast in all key African regions, including Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, Namibia, Botswana, Malawi, Zambia, Angola, Mozambique, Tanzania, DRC, Cameroon and South Africa.
