The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has issued an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) to Enugu Air, clearing the airline to commence scheduled flight operations in Nigeria.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, on Tuesday in Abuja,the Director General of Civil Aviation, Chris Najomo, described the development as another milestone for the industry.
He noted that the Authority has continued to streamline the certification process while ensuring that all prospective operators meet strict safety and operational requirements.
Najomo commended the airline for successfully completing the rigorous certification process but urged its management to sustain compliance with all safety and operational standards.
He warned that any drop in standards could result in the withdrawal of the certification.
The NCAA boss also praised the Authority’s technical team and the airline’s management for their dedication throughout the certification exercise, which involved operational demonstrations, documentation reviews and several stages of evaluation.
Responding on behalf of the airline, the Chief Executive Officer of Enugu Air, Tolu Ita, described the certification as a dream come true.
He expressed appreciation to the NCAA for its guidance and oversight throughout the certification process.
Senior officials of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority present at the event included Director of Airworthiness Standards, Godwin Balang; Director of Operations, Licensing and Training Standards, Donald Spiff; Director of Air Transport Regulation, Olayinka Babaoye-Iriobe; and Director of Finance and Accounts, Olufemi Odukoya.
Also in attendance were representatives of the Enugu State Government, including the Commissioner for Transportation, Obi Ozor, and the Chairman of the Board of Enugu Air, Richard Agu.
