NEMA Distributes Food Items To Vulnerable Persons In Yobe

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has begun the distribution of assorted food items from the National Strategic Reserves to vulnerable persons in Yobe State.
This was disclosed by the agency on its X handle on Thursday, May 2, 2024.
The items were handed over to the Yobe State Government for onward distribution to the vulnerable persons in the state
Speaking at the distribution centre, the Director General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar who was represented by the Zonal Director, Mr. Sulaiman Yakubu, said, the Federal Government initiative was aimed at alleviating the impact of the high cost of food items on vulnerable persons in the country.
While emphasizing the importance of the intervention, the DG said, it was imperative to extend support to those most in need during challenging times.
“Our collaboration with the Yobe State Government underscores our commitment to ensuring food security and alleviating hardship among vulnerable populations”, he said.
Responding to the DG’s Remarks, His Excellency the Executive Governor of Yobe State expressed gratitude on behalf of the good people and the government for the timely assistance provided by the Federal Government through NEMA.
“This distribution will significantly benefit the vulnerable members of our community, and we are committed to ensuring that the food items reaches them accordingly”, he pledged.
