The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has formally approved the appointment of Ms. Sherifat Adegbenro as the acting Chief Executive Officer of Eko Electricity Distribution PLC (EKEDC).
NERC announced the regulatory approval in a statement on Monday.
The Commission said aligned with the Code of Corporate Governance for the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry, the appointment ensures leadership continuity pending the DisCo’s appointment of a substantive CEO.
EKEDC is one of Nigeria’s major electricity distribution companies,
and was established following the unbundling of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria under the Electric Power Sector Reform Act and was privatized in November 2013.
Initially owned by West Power & Gas (WPG), a consortium led by Transgrid Enerco acquired a 60% stake in January 2025.
The company provides electricity distribution services to residential, commercial, and industrial customers in southern Lagos and Agbara in Ogun State.
