The newly appointed Commissioner of Police in Kebbi State, CP Umar Mohammed Hadejia, has declared a zero-tolerance stance against indiscipline, corruption, and unprofessional conduct among officers and men of the Command.

CP Hadejia, who made this known on Monday, January 12, 2026, while formally assuming duty as the 38th Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, warned that abuse of power, negligence, and any form of unprofessional conduct would not be tolerated under his watch.

Hadejia’s appointment is in line with the recent deployment of 17 Police Commissioners across key departments, Commands and formations by the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

Speaking at the event, the Commissioner noted that Kebbi State’s strategic location, extensive rural terrain, and border communities pose significant security challenges, including banditry, kidnapping, illegal arms proliferation, and trans-border crimes.

According to him, addressing these threats would require firm leadership, operational discipline, and strict professionalism across all ranks of the Command.

The Police boss assured residents of Kebbi State of his total commitment to the protection of lives and property, stressing that the State would not be allowed to serve as a safe haven for criminal elements.

He said that criminality would be confronted decisively and lawfully, adding that public safety remained the Command’s top priority.

CP Hadejia further disclosed that policing under his leadership would be driven by intelligence-led and community-based strategies, in line with the operational vision of the Inspector-General of Police.

He said the approach would focus on strengthening border security, enhancing rural patrols, disrupting criminal networks, improving intelligence coordination, and ensuring rapid response to security threats.

He emphasized the importance of strategic collaboration with traditional rulers, community leaders, vigilante groups, sister security agencies, and other stakeholders, describing such partnerships as critical to effective policing in the State.

He further announced that his office would operate an open-door policy, encouraging members of the public and officers to provide credible and actionable intelligence, with assurances of confidentiality and professionalism in handling such information.

CP Hadejia called on officers and personnel of the Command to demonstrate loyalty, dedication, and professionalism in the discharge of their duties, while also appealing for the support of the Kebbi State Government, the media, and law-abiding citizens to improve security outcomes and strengthen public confidence in policing.
