Nigeria Not Affected By Global Cyber Outage -ngCERT

The Nigeria’s Cyberspace is not affected by the current global Information Technology (IT) outage affecting various services and platforms.

This was disclosed by the Nigeria Computer Emergency Response Team (ngCERT) in a statement posted on its X handle on Friday.

ngCERT was established with a mission to manage the risks of cyber threats in the Nigeria’s cyberspace and effectively coordinate incident response and mitigation strategies to proactively prevent cyber-attacks against Nigeria.

According to the statement, it said, “ngCERT is aware of the global IT outage affecting various services and platforms. So far, we have not received any reports of impact on our cyberspace.

“We will issue an advisory as soon as valid information is available. Please report any noticed impacts for prompt action”.

The IT outage was massive that industries like Aviation, banks and Media companies were all affected.

According to Reuters report, Air passengers around the world faced delays, cancellations and problems checking in as airports and airlines were caught up in the IT outage.

Some airlines and airports said they were back online, with the U.S. government holding out hopes that the transportation system would be back to normal by Saturday.
Out of over 110,000 scheduled commercial flights on Friday, 2,691 have been cancelled globally so far, and more are expected to be called off, according to data from global aviation analytics firm Cirium.
