The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) in the Lassa Fever Situation Report for Week 43 (20th October – 26th October, 2025) said the country recorded 955 confirmed cases, 176 deaths and a Case Fatality Rate (CFR) of 18.4%.
According to the report published on Wednesday, the number of confirmed cases of Lassa Fever increased from 9 in Epi week 42 to 11 in Epi week 43 of 2025. The cases were reported in Ondo state.
Furthermore, the cumulative for week 43 (2025) was a total of 955 confirmed cases, 176 deaths, CFR 18.4% which was higher than 16.6%, same period in 2024.
The report also showed that 21 states recorded at least one confirmed case across 102 Local Government Areas (LGAs).
“88% of confirmed cases are from Ondo, Bauchi, Edo and Taraba State.The predominant age group affected is 21- 30 years”, the report said.
It also noted that no new healthcare worker was affected this week. The number of suspected and confirmed cases decreased compared to that reported at the same period in 2024.
