The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) says the number of confirmed Lassa Fever cases in the country decreased from 13 in Epi week 36 of 2025 to 11.
According to the Lassa Fever Situation Report for Week 37 (8th– 14th September 2025), the cases were reported in Ondo, Bauchi, Kogi and Anambra States.
It informed that, “Cumulative for week 37 (2025) total: 895 confirmed cases, 166 deaths, CFR 18.5% (higher than 16.9% same period in 2024)”.
Furthermore, 21 states recorded at least one confirmed case across 106 Local Government Areas (LGAs). Also, 90% of confirmed cases were from Ondo, Bauchi, Edo, Taraba, and Ebonyi State.
According to the report, the predominant age group affected was 21- 30 years and no new healthcare worker was affected this week.
The Agency also noted that the number of suspected and confirmed cases decreased compared to that reported at the same period in 2024 and the National Lassa fever multi-partner, multi-sectoral Technical Working Group (TWG) continues supporting coordination of response activities at all levels
