Nigeria and Sierra Leone have entered into a digital partnership with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at accelerating growth in their digital economies.

The agreement was sealed during the Nigeria–Sierra Leone Digital Economy Bilateral Trade Mission, led by Nigeria’s Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani.

Under the deal, both countries will collaborate on strengthening digital public infrastructure, expanding broadband connectivity, enhancing cybersecurity frameworks, promoting youth innovation and boosting cross-border digital trade.

The partnership also targets interoperability of government systems, digital identity development, spectrum collaboration, data governance and artificial intelligence.

A major highlight of the engagement was the signing of several private-sector agreements between Nigerian and Sierra Leonean firms, designed to expand fintech, edtech and healthtech services while driving joint innovation projects.

Tijani described the partnership as a strategic move to build a secure and inclusive digital ecosystem across the sub-region.

He noted that the partnership would unlock new opportunities for young people and stimulate shared economic prosperity.
