The event opened with a welcome address by the Rector of the United Nations University and United Nations Under-Secretary-General, Tshilidzi Marwala.

Keynote presentations were delivered by Måns Nilsson, Executive Director of the Stockholm Environment Institute, and Rumiko Seya, President of Reach Alternatives.

During several parallel sessions, the NiMet delegation engaged in discussions on climate action, disaster resilience, migration, climate change mitigation, sustainable agriculture, and environmental protection on land and in marine ecosystems.

The team also contributed to deliberations on climate governance, urban resilience, equitable climate justice, and transboundary resource management, as well as emerging methods for monitoring and predicting environmental changes.

NiMet said its participation in the conference strengthened knowledge exchange and fostered collaboration with international stakeholders, while reinforcing Nigeria’s role in global efforts aimed at addressing climate challenges and advancing sustainable development.
