The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) disclosed that it has commenced the implementation of Microsoft Learning Management Systems (LMS) training for senior staff.
According to the agency on Wednesday, the training which is the second phase,
began on 29th, October 2024 and will end on the 31st in Abuja.
The Director General NiMet, Professor Charles Anosike said he is confident that the LMS will revolutionize training programmes in the agency.
“It will set a new standard for online learning within the agency and by extension to members of the public who are interested in gaining knowledge about products and services offered by NiMet,”Anosike said.
According to the agency, “the training programme is in line with the strategic policy direction of the Director General/ Chief Executive Officer of NiMet, Professor Charles Anosike, aimed at fostering a culture of continuous development, improvement, and innovation at the agency.
“It is also in line with the mandate by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, for agencies under the aviation ministry to prioritize staff development,”
Speaking during the training, the Special Assistant on ICT to NiMet boss,Mr. Cyprian Okpalaku, highlighted the importance of the training programme.
“It is aimed at developing the computer skills of staff and encouraging the adoption, usage, and implementation of the LMS platform in their daily official affairs in the agency. This will also foster synergy amongst all units and departments of the agency”, he said.
