Troops of Operation FASAN YAMMA, including its air component, have killed several terrorists in clearance operations conducted in various parts of Zamfara state.
According to a statement on Sunday by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj Gen Edward Buba, among the scores if terrorists killed include the son of notorious terrorist leader, Bello Turji.
Buba disclosed that during the operations conducted on Friday, 17 January 2025, along Shinkafi , Kagara, Fakai , Moriki, Maiwa and Chindo axis, troops destroyed the terrorists’ logistics hub and rescued several kidnap hostages held captive by Turji, who “in a gross cowardly act escaped” abandoning his son and combatants.
In a related development , troops also destroyed another camp owned by a terrorist kingpin known as Idi Mallam, along Zango Kagara Forest.
During the encounter, troops neutralized 3 terrorists, and arrested 3 suspected collaborators. They recovered 2 machine guns, one AK-47 rifle with a magazine containing 11 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition. Additionally, 61 rustled cattle and 44 sheep were rescued among other sundry items.
“Troops are sustaining the onslaught against the terrorists. Overall, troops continue to demonstrate commitment to the safety and protection of all citizens across the country”, Buba stated.
