Charity turned tragic in Tudun Wada Local Government Area of Kano State following the death of an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) during the distribution of Ramadan and Sallah palliatives.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Friday during a programme organised by the member representing Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Alhassan Ado Doguwa.
Confirming the development in a statement, Doguwa alleged that the officer was killed after hoodlums attempted to disrupt the distribution of the relief materials.
The lawmaker described the incident as tragic and extended his condolences to the family of the deceased officer, the Civil Defence Corps, and residents of Tudun Wada.
“May Allah grant him mercy and forgiveness,” Doguwa said, even as he called on security agencies to carry out a thorough investigation into the incident and ensure that those responsible for the violence are brought to justice, urging authorities to identify and prosecute the individuals behind the attack.
Doguwa also cautioned against the spread of what he described as false information linking him directly to the incident. According to him, legal steps would be taken to protect his reputation and that of his constituents from defamatory claims.
He further prayed for the repose of the officer’s soul and urged residents to remain vigilant during public gatherings.
The lawmaker added that he personally supervised the distribution of food items and other support materials to residents as part of the Ramadan and Sallah outreach programme.
