NYSC DG Tasks Corps Members On Positive Impact, Increases Allowance

The Director General of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General YD Ahmed has implored Corps Members to impact their host communities with laudable projects that would improve the living standard of the residents. This is even as he announced an increase in their monthly allowance.

Acting Director, Information and Public Relations of the NYSC, Caroline Embu disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday, September 5, 2024.

According to the statement, the NYSC Boss explained that Community Development Service, which is one of the four cardinal programmes of NYSC was designed to enable Corps Members leave lasting legacies in their host communities during the service year.

Brigadier General Ahmed stated this in his address to the 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream Two Corps Members at Kaduna State Temporary Orientation Camp, inside Government College Kurmin-Mashi.

He urged them to respect the culture and traditions of the communities they would be posted to, and avoid any action that may bring them on collision with their hosts.

The Director General also implored the Corps Members to remain disciplined, use the social media wisely and participate actively in all camp activities.

He advised them to study and adhere strictly to the security tips that were given to them in order to ensure their safety within and outside the Orientation Camp and especially, when they get to their place of primary assignments and host communities.

In another development, the DG assured Corps Members that as soon as Civil Servants start receiving the new minimum wage that was approved by the Federal Government, their monthly allowance would also increase.

He gave this assurance while addressing Corps Members at Kebbi State Orientation Camp, Dakingari and Sokoto State Orientation Camp in Wamakko.

He also implored them to use the opportunity of the service year to develop themselves and plan for greater heights in future.
