NYSC Partners Firm On Computer Skill Training For Corps Members
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has said, it would continue to enhance the value and employability skills of Corps Members through the deployment of ICT solutions.
NYSC Director, Press and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa announced the development in a statement issued on Tuesday, April 25, 2023.
According to the statement, NYSC Director General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed stated this today during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with New Horizons Systems Solutions Ltd, held at the National Directorate Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja.
Ahmed said all efforts should be geared towards equipping Corps Members with the necessary skills and trainings that would enhance their chances of becoming self-reliant and contributors to the growth of national economy.
The Director General added that the choice of Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme as one of the focal areas of his administration is to build on the achievements of previous administrations as a step towards reducing youth unemployment.
“We shall play our part by providing the enabling environment for the smooth implementation of this partnership.
“Under this MoU, we shall put into effective use, the ICT sections of the NYSC Skill Centres in Ekiti, Gombe, Nasarawa, Ogun and Yobe States as well as others for the benefits of the Corps Members and Members of the host communities”, he added.
General Ahmed also urged all Corps Members to avail themselves of the training opportunity to become self reliant and job creators.
Speaking earlier, the Managing Director of New Horizons Systems Solutions Ltd, Mr Tom Akano congratulated General Ahmed on his appointment as the new Director General of the Scheme.
He commended the NYSC Management for repositioning the Scheme towards making Corps Members highly relevant in the industrial space through digital skills.
Akano said the MoU between both organisations would encompass critical thinking, critical analysing and the creation of SAED Learning Portal that would enable Corps Members with vocational training and skills to advertise their products to the world.
He also promised the donation of 1,000 ICT books as part of the organisation’s contributions to the celebration of NYSC’s 50th Anniversary.
