By Stella Enenche, Abuja

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has announced the launch of its maiden Digital Economy Awareness and Sensitization Fora to promote inclusive participation, bridge infrastructure and policy gaps in the nation’s digital transformation journey.

NCC disclosed this on Sunday in a statement by the Head of Public Affairs, Nnenna Ukoha.

The event which is scheduled for November 13, 2025, will hold under the theme : Leaving No One Behind: Digital Assets, Equity, and Empowerment.”

It aims to provide a platform for policymakers, industry experts, and community stakeholders to explore strategies for driving equity and innovation in the digital economy.

According to the Commission, the forum is designed to create a conducive environment for Infrastructure for Innovation and Inclusion, and to deepen understanding of how digital access can drive sustainable national development.

Sessions will focus on key areas such as inclusive digital policy design, infrastructure deployment, digital literacy programmes, and measures to enhance affordability and accessibility of digital services.

With Africa’s youth accounting for about 60 percent of its population — and Nigeria representing a major share — the NCC said it recognizes this demographic as a critical asset to be harnessed for innovation, growth, and inclusion.

Beyond expanding access, the Commission reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the nation’s over 140 million internet users while ensuring that underserved communities are not left behind in the country’s digital transition.

The Digital Economy Awareness and Sensitization Fora is being organized in collaboration with major partners including the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF), National Orientation Agency (NOA), National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), Association of Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ATCON), FintechNGR, KOICA, Terra Industries, Association of Nigerian Inventors (ANI), National Universities Commission (NUC), Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD), and National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), among others.

The event will feature panel discussions and exhibitions by innovators, fintech companies, and students showcasing technological creativity and local solutions that reflect the dynamism of Nigeria’s digital ecosystem.
