Olukoyede gave the endorsement in Abuja on Friday, March 27, 2026, during his goodwill message at the programme’s launch, describing corruption as a major threat to both national and global development and stressing the need for sustained and coordinated efforts to combat the menace.

He noted that the programme comes at a critical time as Nigeria and the global community face evolving threats from transnational organised crime, terrorism, cyber-enabled offences, and illicit financial flows.

According to him, criminal networks now exploit technology, global financial systems, and governance gaps to move illicit funds across borders rapidly, making stronger institutions, collaboration, and international cooperation essential.

Olukoyede also highlighted the long-standing partnership between the EFCC and UNODC, expressing confidence that the new programme—focused on capacity building, inter-agency collaboration, and data-driven strategies—will strengthen Nigeria’s anti-corruption framework.

The UNODC emphasised Nigeria’s strategic importance as Africa’s largest economy and most populous nation, noting its potential to drive regional progress. The launch attracted key stakeholders across the justice sector, including agencies such as the NDLEA, NPF, ICPC, and the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.
