Ondo Police Restore Order In Idanre After Deadly Attack

The Ondo State Police Command, says it has restored calm in Idanre following a violent attack that left two people dead and three others injured.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said the Command received a distress call from the Divisional Police Officer in Idanre at about 11:05 a.m. reporting violent acts by a group of individuals.

He said the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, immediately deployed tactical teams to reinforce security in the area.

The CP, alongside the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) CC Oluyemi Ibiloye, led a joint team of operatives to the scene, restoring peace and order.

Five persons were reportedly attacked and a vehicle set ablaze during the incident. Three victims are receiving treatment for injuries, while two others were confirmed dead at the hospital.

The CP visited the injured victims and assured them of the Command’s support.
The police said investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible, adding that additional tactical teams have been deployed to prevent further breakdown of law and order.

Residents were urged to remain calm and continue their lawful activities, as security measures have been strengthened to ensure sustained peace across the state.
