The Anambra State Police Command has arraigned two suspects over the murder of an Onitsha-based employer, with part of the stolen funds recovered.

Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said in a statement on Wednesday that operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) arraigned the suspects on March 18, 2026, in connection with the killing of Ikechukwu Simon Nwite and the theft that followed.

The prime suspect, Chiemerie Anieke, 21, allegedly struck his employer with a pestle on the head, leading to his death. He was also linked to an attack on one Ogechukwu Nwite in the Fegge area of Onitsha.

Anieke was arraigned alongside Godwin Nnabuike Nwokporo, 21, who allegedly facilitated the crime by providing a bank account used to transfer over N8 million belonging to the deceased.

Police said N6 million, part of the stolen funds, was recovered from the suspects and tendered as exhibit in court.

Both suspects have been remanded at a correctional facility pending further proceedings, while the command reiterated its resolve to ensure justice and warned against criminal acts.
