During the meeting, community representatives expressed concerns over the alleged unprofessional conduct of some officers attached to the Jobele Divisional Headquarters. However, they acknowledged the swift disciplinary steps taken by the Commissioner of Police, including immediate intervention and the deployment of operational assets to the area.

They also urged the Command to sustain collaboration with other security agencies to ensure the protection of lives and property in Oyo town and surrounding communities, while commending the police for efforts at maintaining peace and stability.

Responding, the CP thanked the delegation for their constructive engagement and assured them of a transparent and thorough investigation. He disclosed that the Divisional Police Officer had been issued a query, while other officers involved were detained and undergoing internal disciplinary procedures pending the outcome of investigations.

To ensure transparency, the Commissioner ordered the immediate redeployment of the DPO to allow for an unbiased investigation and directed that the suspect connected to the incident be re-arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

He further directed that the investigation be handled by the Nigeria Police Force X-Squad to ensure professionalism and oversight, while approving the deployment of additional tactical teams to strengthen security coverage across Oyo town and its environs.

Reaffirming the Command’s commitment to justice and accountability, the CP assured stakeholders that anyone found culpable would face appropriate sanctions in line with the law and police regulations.

He therefore urged residents of Oyo and surrounding communities to continue cooperating with the police by providing credible information that would aid ongoing investigations and enhance public safety.

The Command reiterated its commitment to professionalism, transparency and the protection of lives and property across the state.
