Oyo State Donates 90 Hectares For Moniya Dry Port

The Federal government has received over 90 hectares of land from the Oyo State government for the Moniya Inland Dry Port development.

​Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Dr. Adegboyega Oyetola, received the documents from the Oyo State, Deputy Governor, Abdul-Raheem Lawal, on behalf of the Federal Government, according to a statement made available on Sunday by the Director, Information and Public Relations, Anastasia Ogbonna.

TheFact Daily recalled that the Ogun State government had handed over130 hectares of land to the Federal Government for the development of Ijebu-Ode Inland Dry Port.

Oyetola who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Olufemi Oloruntola,
described the gesture as a clear demonstration of partnership and shared vision between the Federal and the State Government to expand economic opportunities through modern trade.

He commended the State Government’s support towards attaining ideals of the Tinubu led administration.

The minister assured that the Moniya Inland Dry Port would be a strategic national project that would bring shipping services closer to importers and exporters, thereby stimulating industrial and agricultural growth across the entire South-West region.

​On his part,the Executive Secretary, Nigerian Shippers’ Council, NSC, Dr. Pius Akutah who was represented by the Director, Inland Transport Services, Ahmadu Garta, appreciated the Oyo State Government’s decision to partner with the Federal Government in the development of the Inland Dry Port.

He emphasized the critical role of the project in national commerce, noting that Dry Ports remain an integral part of modern trade facilitation.

​In his remarks, the Oyo State Deputy Governor, Lawal, appreciated the Ministry and the NSC for their resolve to develop vital transport infrastructure across the country.

He reiterated the state’s unwavering commitment to the project, but urged the Ministry and the NSC to stay dedicated to the timeline.

​”We are committed to seeing this project through, but we also implore the Ministry and the Council to ensure this project is delivered in time for the maximum benefit of the people of Oyo State and its environs,” the Deputy Governor concluded.

​The highlight of the occasion was the presentation of the Certificate of Occupancy for the 90 hectares of land, followed by a brief joint inspection of the proposed project site by the combined team of officials from the Oyo State Government, the ministry and the NSC.

The 90-hectare ceded land is close to the Obafemi Awolowo Train Station which facilitates daily freight and passenger schedules on the route originating from Lagos (specifically, Apapa and Ebute Mette-Metta Stations) traversing intermediate locations before arriving at Moniya Ibadan, Oyo State.
