Police Arrest Military Impostor, Extortionist In Adamawa
Operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command, have arrested a suspect for parading himself as a military officer and also threatening and extorting members of the public.
The State Command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, disclosed this Monday 18 July, in a press statement.
TheFact Daily gathers that the arrest was attributed to an intensive surveillance patrol carried out by police operatives attached to Girei Divisional police headquarters, Sunday, 17 July, 2022, in a bid to ensure safety and security at Sangere Futy, in Girei Local Government Area.
The suspect, 22-year-old Paul Shaltha, a resident of Sabongari ward Girei Local Government Area, upon interrogation confessed to have paraded himself as a military man sometime last month, threatened and extorted one Michael Stephen a Keke Napep operator for allegedly violating traffic rules.
Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, CP SK Akande, while talking tough on the impersonator, directed the State Criminal investigation Department, SCID, CP’s Monitoring Unit and Public Complain Bureau, PCB, to go after people of such questionable characters and checkmate the criminal activities being masterminded by them.
Akande further directed that, the matter be discreetly investigated, and equally called on members of the public not to hesitate in reporting men of suspicious character in and around their neighborhood for the prosecution of the suspects to serve as deterrent to others from doing likewise.
