Police Foil Bandit Attack In Katsina, Three Killed

The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed that three persons were killed while 11 others sustained injuries following an attack by suspected armed bandits on Jikamshi village in Musawa Local Government Area of the state.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, who disclosed this on Wednesday, the incident occurred on March 10, 2026, at about 6:05 p.m.

The Musawa Divisional Police Headquarters received a distress call reporting that a large number of armed bandits had invaded the community, attacking residents with dangerous weapons before the arrival of security operatives.

He said a joint security team led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Musawa swiftly mobilised to the scene and engaged the assailants in a gun duel, successfully repelling the attack and forcing the bandits to retreat.

Aliyu explained that the injured victims were immediately evacuated to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention. However, three of the victims were confirmed dead by the doctor on duty, while the remaining 11 are currently responding to treatment.

The Commissioner of Police for Katsina State, Bello Shehu, condemned the attack and has ordered a thorough investigation aimed at identifying and arresting those responsible for the incident.

Police authorities assured that further developments will be communicated as the investigation progresses.
