The Ondo state Police Command has begun investigation into the mysterious death of an unidentified a woman whose lifeless body was found in a hotel in Ore, Adigbo local government area after the man who lodged with her reportedly fled the premises.
The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, on Thursday, confirmed the incident, saying detectives had already begun efforts to track down the fleeing man, who is now considered a prime suspect.
It was learnt that the woman’s remains was found on Wednesday. Hotel staff said the pair had checked in together earlier in the day, only for workers to later stumble on the woman’s lifeless body while her male partner was nowhere to be found.
According to a hotel source who spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the matter, there were no visible injuries on the victim, nor signs of a struggle inside the room, raising questions about the circumstances surrounding the death of the woman.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been deposited at a local hospital morgue as investigators continue to piece together what transpired in the hours leading up to her death.
